The Himune are the creation of *Humingbird and *Dragoness77.

About the Himune:

-=: The Himune and Irräe :=-

The Himune are a race of dragons. With their unique design, rare features and intelligence, they are the rulers of the world Irräe. Irräe is a world full of life. The Himune respect every living creature, this includes their preys. Their world is one of balance and nature.

-=: The Elders :=-

Elements have their own 'Gods'. These are the Elders. There is an Elder of Water, of Earth, of the Sun and of the Sky. They are the Himune's guides and advisors. Each Elder has it's own type of creature to aid him or her. Though the Elders are accepted and honored by all the Himune, Tribes have different ways of honoring them. This depends on their habitat.

-=: The Tribes :=-

Each habitat has it's own Higher Tribe. This is a collection of Tribe Chieftans that live in the same area. Disputes between the Chieftans are very common, but wars are rare. Each sub-Tribe has it's own Mark, this can be a small feature, like a band with a feather around the leg, but it can also be painted or even scratched on their bodies. Whether the Mark is given to a newborn or when a Himune reaches adulthood, depends on the Chieftan. Chieftans are chosen by their Tribe. They are usually old and experienced. It does however occasionally happen that a younger Himune is elected to be the Chieftan. When a Chieftan dies, his oldest son or daughter inherits the title, unless the Tribe is against it or, of course, when there are no sons or daughters.

-=: Sociality :=-

When a cub is born, it gets dubbed in the name of the Elders and the Tribe. The Chieftan will pour water over the newborn, in the name of the Water Elder, Irshii. A small bit of sand will be spread over the cub's belly, in the name of the Earth Elder, Urtagh. It will be taken for a small flight with it's mother to experience wind, in honor of the Sky Elder, Caël. And lastly a large fire will be lit, in the name of the Fire Elder, Farren. After the dubbing ceremony is complete, the tribe will hold a feast.

As the cub grows, it stays with it's parents. Himune relationships are much like our own, they can fall in love, break up or stay together for the rest of their lives. One difference is that a Himune will never cheat on his or her partner. It is simply not done. This is why divorces are rare in Himune society.

-=: Allies and Enemies :=-

The Himune, like all races, have allies and enemies. They are the ruling species of their world, yes, but there are plenty of predators threatening their cubs. These predators are simply less intelligent, which keeps them from taking over the Himune's ruling position.
The Himune's allies are almost all winged creatures. They are all brothers and sisters of the Sky, and are not to be harmed. And of course, the Elder's aiding creatures. Harming one of them is believed to bring terror and misfortune upon a Tribe. Being friendly with them and protecting them brings the opposite.
